The fabric in this charming little school bag is made of hand-spun fireweed (Gerbera delavaii) in weft, and in warp both fireweed and hand-spun hemp (approx 11 x 17 tr/cm). The leaf hairs from fireweed are felt-like on the surface of the strong and dense fabric. The fringes are of synthetic yarn. The appliqué  and embrodery is likely of cotton yarn. This kind of fabric is a unique traditional material, and today production has ceased. Made in Yunnan province by the Yi ethic group.

Note! This satchel is featured in the book "Cannabis Textiles".
