This fine Hmong skirt is made of home-grown hemp, home-spliced and home-woven in tabby (11 x 11 th/cm). The fabric is sewn together by hand of two panels with a waist band. The upper panel is only dyed with indigo without patterns, and the lower panel has been dyed with indigo batik. Appliqué is made of commercial cotton. Both panels are heavily pleated held in place with chain stitches on the upper panel, as well as regular stitches on the lower panel and along the hem. The waist holds together with a simple ribbon of the same as the other fabrics. The skirt contains approx. 14 meters of fabric.
