The fabric is made of home-spun cotton, dyed in dark brown or black and woven in a warp-faced double yarn tabby (23 x 8 th/cm). It is made of two weaving widths of 0,545 meter, woven on a ground loom. The warp stripes are also of cotton, some tiny stripes are in color effect "rips" made of two different colors. In the weft, small hand-made lead/tin beads have been inserted, which resemble embroidery patterns. The patterns are slightly different on the reverse side. This weft brocade is called “Zeng”. Different pattern motifs represent things from nature or daily life of each season, like constellations, flowers in bloom, or animals from the forest. Note! To use metal beads is an old tradition, makes the fabric stable and heavier.
