The fabric in this simple skirt is indigo dyed cotton, likely home-spun, woven in a warp-faced double yarn tabby (21 x 9 th/cm). The skirt has been hand-sewn of one fabric width of 0,69 m. Because of the broad width it must likely been woven on an ordinary horizontal frame loom. The colored warp stripes give a patterned effect, called "rips". The weft yarn is also lightly dyed in reverse batik which causes a "shadowed" pattern effect. As well, the weft includes small white glass beads, in patterns resembling embroidery. The pattern is identical on front and back. This weft brocade called “Zeng” consists of inserting beads while weaving and the beads become part of the structure. Different patterns and bead motifs represent objects from nature or daily life of each season, like constellations, flowers in bloom or animals from the forest. The red and black color represents the migratory bird named “Kotach” who according to their beliefs has a foot resin which is a love balm to make a woman fall in love.
