The fabric in this loincloth is made of (likely home-spun) cotton, indigo dyed in blue-black and home-woven in a warp-faced double yarn tabby (18 x 8 th/cm). It is made of one fabric width of 0.23 m, woven on a back-strap loom. The warp stripes are also of cotton. In the weft, small hand-made lead/tin beads have been inserted, which resemble embroidery patterns. The pattern is identical in both front and back. In this weft brocade called “Zeng” the beads become part of the sturcture. Different patterns represent objects from nature or daily life of each season, like constellations, flowers in bloom or animals from the forest. The red and black color represents the migratory bird named “Kotach” who according to their beliefs has a foot resin which is a love balm to make a woman fall in love. On the edges of both panels, red wool fringes are aded, some on one side are cotton fringes. They are attached with handmade glass beads.

Note! Metal beads stopped being made a long time ago, making this piece unique.
