This vest, shirt and bamboo helmet are iconic costume elements of Idu Mishmi warriors. Bamboo helmets were worn with the woolen vest as a set of armor used to protect warriors from their adversarys' arrows and swords. These helmets were still being made in the early 21st century by this Idu Mishmi craftsman. A simple hand-spun and hand-woven cotton shirt was worn under the woolen armor.
