Baby carrier made of cotton trade cloth (corduroy), the back panel is made of plain cotton fabric, with a cross-stitch framed center panel. Carriers were gifted to young women when they gave birth. The baby was secured inside the carrier by a wide cloth strap tied around the baby carrier across the child’s back, crossing above the mother’s breasts, wrapped back under the child’s bum, and wrapped around the mother’s waist several times before being tied. 
 
This carrier can easily be transformed into a cushion!
