This traditional pleated skirt is unique because it is made of ramie and not hemp which was traditionally more common. It consists of three different panels, the base panel is indigo dyed made of home-grown ramie, spliced and home-woven (13 x 10 th/cm). The waist panel is made of home-spun cotton (15 x 11.) The lower panel is lined with the same ramie fabric, but it is natural colored and a factory made cotton fabric has been sewn on it, as well with a nice needlework of cross-stitches. The 3 panels are pleated and sewn together by hand. The ramie panel is made of one weaving width, 34 cm and heavily pleated. Some of the stitches which hold the pleats folded together still remain on the fabric.
