This beautiful loincloth is made of  hand-spun and home-woven cotton, in a warp-faced tabby (double warps) woven on a back-strap loom. The fabric has colored warp stripes and weft patterns of colored threads that hang as fringes on the sides. The two panels of the ends have woven patterned wefts of small white glass beads, which resemble embroidery. The pattern is identical on front and back. This brocade called “Zeng” consists of ineseting the glass beads into the weft while weaving, so the beads become part of the structure. Different patterns and bead motifs represent objects from nature or daily life of each season, like constellations, flowers in bloom or animals from the forest. The red and black color represents the migratory bird named “Kotach” who according to their beliefs has feet with resin which is a love balm to make a woman fall in love.
