This useful net bag has been crocheted, made of the wild bean plant (Pueraria phaseoloides), also called jungle vine, kudzu, piet or pied. The production is simple but time consuming. The vines are picked wild and then chopped into 50 to 60 centimeter sections, debarked into fiber ribbons which are then pounded and softened. After the ribbons have been washed and dried, they are joined and twisted into a two-ply yarn used for making bags. The shoulder strap is woven, made of the same jungle vine. Because of the crocheted technique the bag is strong and elastic.
